Stay well in the heat

The Yellow heat-health alert for London is now extended to Wednesday 14th August.

There is potential for significant impacts to be observed across the health and care sector due to the high temperatures. There could be increases in mortality, particularly in the 65+ age group or those with health conditions. There maybe increased demand for remote healthcare services. Internal temperatures in care settings (hospitals and care homes) may exceed recommended threshold for clinical risk assessment. There may be an impact on ability of services to be delivered due to heat effects on the workforce and many indoor environments are likely to be overheating leading to increased risk to vulnerable people living independently in the community as well as in care settings.

For advice on taking care in hot weather see Stay well in the heat on the Council's website.
