Whipps Cross urgent and emergency department requires improvement

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have again rated Whipps Cross Hospital's urgent and emergency department as "requires improvement".

The CQC inspected the urgent and emergency department in July 2024 and have just released the report this month.  The CQC has also issued Barts Health NHS Trust with a warning notice to focus their attention on making specific changes to improve people’s safety.

In response to this latest inspection, Whipps Cross Hospital are making significant changes to improve prevention and control practices, and to reduce overcrowding and waiting times. A dedicated improvement director for urgent and emergency care has been appointed to drive lasting improvements.
