Prostate cancer video for the black community
The North East London Cancer Alliance has been collaborating with black men to raise awareness of their increased risk of prostate cancer, which is 1 in 4 compared to 1 in 8 for white men.
This initiative led to the creation of a new video featuring British Athlete, Joe Appiah, alongside local GPs and members of the black community, filmed in everyday settings such as parks and barber shops.
Promoted during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in March 2024, the video is part of the “Cancer, It’s Not A Game” campaign, leveraging sport to reach older men in deprived areas.
